Friday Favorites: Craft and DIY Edition

I hope everyone is having a good Friday. Here are a few links to get your crafty on this weekend.

1. Watercolors on Book Pages. I love the idea of doing for wrapping paper!
2. Quick DIY Hair ties. This would definitely boost my ponytail game. Let's make one in every color.
3.Hand Lettering Tips with Elsie. I love her short video! It really makes me feel like I could actually get better at hand lettering; and her tips about just doodling the alphabet have already helped me.
4. DIY Easy Wall Hangings. Weaving is amazing, but if you're like me and put down a project for 3 months, something like this works a bit more on the instant gratification scale.

Comic Book Purses

I love unique pieces, especially when it comes to accessories. I mean, what's not to love? True, a simple bag or pair of flats is always an asset in any closet, but why not add a pop of fun to an outfit! I made these purses with comic book fabric and two patterns from Made by Rae. First up are Butter Cup bags:

And this lovely one is reversible! It has an elastic sewed into the top and a button on each side to loop it closed.

And last but not least, a large Star Wars bag for the gal on the go. Completely reversible depending on if you're feeling the dark side today or not.

Valentines Guide for Guys

Sup dudes? Wanna get something for you girlfriend/ wife/ what have you? Here's a guide from a florist in the know.

When In Doubt, Keep With The Classics

You seriously can't go wrong with chocolates, flowers, or spa products. Frankly, any woman will love that you tried, and you can always play it up by getting a gift basket of goodies or a special flower bouquet.  If your girl isn't the red roses and box of chocolates kind of lady, make it personal; get some fancy chocolate bars in flavors she likes, or get her  unique flowers you think she would go for. Which brings me too:

Find Out What She Likes

It isn't hard, some guys just don't think about it. I get some very thoughtful men every year who know just what their woman's favorite colors, scents, and flowers are; and I get a lot of men who have been married for forty years and don't know what their wife's favorite color is.

You don't even have to ask her. Does she always carry a purple purse? Is her closet mainly reds? Is the kitchen decorated with yellow? Boom, a color you can trust.

Want to surprise her with a romantic bubble bath and pampering products? Check out her bathroom; is everything scented with vanilla, citrus, or coconut? Look for a set of those products or something fancy with a similar scent.

Customize Your Gift

So she doesn't love chocolate or taking long bubble baths; ask yourself what she does like to do.  Think of something she does to relax and unwind. Does she knit, have 50 nail polishes, or love live action role playing? Get something specific to her tastes. If she loves gummy bears, go find some fancy brand and dress it up. There are no rules to finding a gift.

Make it Fancy

You don't have to spend a lot to make it look great, just think ahead. Instead of grabbing a dozen red roses in the plastic they come in, have the florist wrap it in tissue. get a nice bow for chocolates, or get a gift basket filled with stuff she'll love. Presentation counts for a lot, so take a good look at what's out there, or ask your florist/ gift person to fancy it up a bit. Even if you run to the store at the last minute, these extra touches mean she won't ever know.

She Hates Valentines Day?

Word. I feel you on this one. If your girl legit doesn't want to acknowledge the holiday, do some nice things around the house without being asked. She will be filled with love and brag that her man is so sweet they don't need Valentine's Day to celebrate their love.

Or take a tip from my husband; he randomly does something nice around February on his own time, which he feels means more (and I love it because I'm so busy at work around Valentine's).

So go out there and get her something amazing!

Friday Favorites

1. I totally want this kick ass sweater.

2. This body wash by Burt's Bees made its way into my stocking. It is amazing for anyone who loves cirtus scents, and makes for a very luxurious shower.

3. I need these shoes!

4. This Honey Badger lip balm is the only thing keeping my lips from falling off this winter.

5. I also need these shoes! Would be amazing with everything.

6. This floral shirt would look great underneath a sweater or jacket, and would look totally rad tied up over a dress for spring.

Happy Friday!

Meet Tum

He is my dog. He is my baby. An eight year old, chubby, barky baby. He inspired the name for my blog/etsy store. He has been with me longer than any other relationship (including my husband), and anyone will tell you, he's pretty damn awesome.
